It was originally released in 1999 and although it has had bug fixes and improvements, I doubt its graphics can match today's expectations, though it should support some of the mods that have been made over the years. ![]() I can't guarantee new players will love the game. You'll also encounter so many elements and mechanics that feel familiar as so many games have copied them since SS2, for example text logs (maybe audio logs can't remember), you'll recognised ideas that have ben used in DOOM 3, HALO, Bioshock (naturally) etc. At that point I was sold, though for me the game just got better and better. I remember my first playthrough it took me 10 minutes to gingerly move out of the main starting room, because I wasn't prepared for the RPG nature of the game and lost half my health instantly ( I wont say any more as I don't want to spoil anything). Many years later after switching to PC I tracked down SS2. I played the demo of SS1 on a Mac and wasn't impressed with the controls. ![]() Great article about how it was brought back from copyirght/trademark/ownership hell here Rock, Paper, Shotgunįor anyone who has never played it and loves the spiritual successor Bioshock or RPG/FPS hybrids you will hopefully be in for a real treat.
